Requires DaVinci Resolve Studio

Find anything fast

Type a few letters, press Enter and it's on your timeline. Start with a prefix to search only scripts, markers or sounds. Tab picks a few at once, and Ctrl+Tab picks the same one twice.

See and hear it first

Every clip plays right next to the list, sound and all. Scrub through it, loop it, and mark in and out with Alt+I and Alt+O before it goes anywhere.

Every useful tool in one place

Adjustment clips, markers, grabbing a frame, swapping a clip. All the things you would normally dig through menus for, you find by typing their name. Ctrl+K shows them all, and on the Fusion page the Fusion ones.

All 21 of my scripts come with it, every one of them included in the app, and bindable through Keyboard Customization.

Choose how clips are inserted

At the playhead, one after another, spaced out or on every marker. Set lengths and where pictures sit in the frame, and see it on a drawing of your timeline first.

Change how it looks

Pick a theme and round the corners. Drag the edges to make it bigger, and drag the line between the list and the preview to give either one more room. Ctrl with + or − makes everything in it larger or smaller.

The philosophy of davinci-search

Searching is faster than looking. It’s how I get around my computer, with Vicinae (Linux) or Raycast (Mac and Windows), and DaVinci Resolve didn’t have it. So I added it.

Most editors know the names of the sound effects, nodes and macros they use, me included. Or at least some part of the name. The slow part is finding them: the right folder, then the right file among hundreds. That takes too long, and honestly, it’s boring.

With davinci-search you type what you’re after, from the Media Pool or anywhere else, and it’s there. It’s an add-on to Resolve, but it doesn’t feel like one. It fits right in, and it’s satisfying to use.

Questions

Does it work with the free version of DaVinci Resolve?

No, you need DaVinci Resolve Studio. The free version doesn't let other apps talk to it.

What happens after the 7-day trial?

It asks for a key. Everything works during the trial, and you don't need a card or an account for it.

How many computers can I use it on?

Five. Moving to a new computer? Free up the old one from the app, or from the link in the email your key came with.

Does it need the internet?

Only now and then, to check the key. Without a connection it keeps working for 14 days.

Which systems does it run on?

Mac, Windows and Linux.

Can it mess up my timeline?

It only adds what you insert. And Undo davinci-search's last step takes back what the app did, and nothing you did yourself.

Can I give its scripts keyboard shortcuts?

Yes. They're in Resolve's Workspace › Scripts menu, so you set their shortcuts in Resolve's Keyboard Customization, like any other command.

Do updates cost anything?

No. You pay once, and every update after that is free.

What if it's not for me?

Write to support@alnor.store within 14 days of buying and you get your money back. No questions.
